5 Steps on How to Verify Paypal Account Using UnionBank EON Visa Debit Card
1. Log in to Your Paypal Account
Sign up or log in to your Paypal Account to start with the verification process. Make sure that the primary currency in your account is in Philippine Peso and the county Philippines is selected. Though you can add a new currency or change your primary currency later.
As written on Manage Currencies settings, when you add a new currency, any future payments you receive in that currency will be credited to that balance. Your primary currency is the default currency for sending and requesting payments.
When you are receiving dollar currencies, it is also practical to add a dollar currency in your Paypal Account. But in this guide, let’s stick to Philippine Peso as primary one.
2. Find Cards Section
If you have just created your Paypal Account, you should see the Get Verified link under your name in the Account Overview. Click it and will be able to add a card.
If you can’t find it, Paypal have probably applied the new design in your account. In this case you need to go to Banks and Cards Section. You can do this by clicking the Add a bank account or card link in the right sidebar of your Account Summary or click the Wallet menu at the top. Then, click the Link a Card button in the Credit cards section.
3. Enter EON Visa Debit Card Details
In this step, you have to enter the correct details of your EON Visa Debit Card. Make sure the name in your Paypal Account is the same name in your EON Visa Debit Card. Here’s the information you should enter/select:
- Enter your first name, your last name should be there by default
- Select Visa as Card type
- Enter your card number – it is the big 16-digit number located at the front of your card above your name (Enter the EON card number not your UnionBank Account Number)
- Enter the expiry date of your EON Visa Debit Card which you can find in the front of your card
- Enter the security code or Card Verification Value(CVV) – it is the last 3-digit number on the back of your EON card
Double or triple check all the information you have entered and selected then click the Continue button to proceed.
In this step, most of the people receive an error message. It is probably because you have not received yet the letter UnionBank have sent in the address you have stated in your card application. To resolve this, visit the UnionBank Branch where you have opened your account and professionally raise your concern. Normally, they can process and resolve your kind request within few hours.
4. Request 4-Digit Confirmation Code
After clicking the Continue button or Save button, you’ll see a message saying that your 4-digit code has been requested. This is the security measure used by Paypal to verify that the card belongs to you and you have access to your card statement. Paypal will charge ₱100 or equivalent to your EON Visa Debit Card to generate the code but will be reimbursed after the successful verification.
The 4-digit confirmation code or EXPUSE number should be sent to your card in at least 5 days. Some even say that they received it in just few minutes or hours but let’s stick to at least 5 days. Give it time.
In this step, it is really important that you have already enrolled (if not, enroll now) your EON Visa Debit Card to UnionBank Online Banking specifically in EON Cyber Account so that you can access your transaction history online, anytime and anywhere.
To retrieve the code, log in to your UnionBank Online Banking Account. Then, go to your card transaction history and retrieve the verification code located in Paypal transaction entry description. The format is similar to this, VISA-PP*1234CODE where the 1234 is your 4-digit code.
5. Confirm your EON Visa Debit Card
The last step for you to get verified in Paypal is to confirm your EON Visa Debit Card. Log in to your Paypal Account again and click the Get Verified Link or go to Banks and Cards Section and click Confirm my debit or credit card (or similar one). Then, enter the 4-digit code you’ve retrieved in your card’s transaction history. Next, click the Confirm Card button and wait for the message, Congratulations! Your card has been confirmed and you’re Verified.
